Content and Conext Research

For this project I want to create a piece of work that comments on western society, its addiction to consumerism particularly focusing on technology and youth culture's obsession with mobile phones. Which recently has caused controversy over the amount of deaths that have occurred due to mobile phones.

I intend my work to have a certain level of didactic, allegory and satire.

« Mankind, which in Homer’s time was an object of contemplation for the Olympian gods, is now one for itself. Its self-alienation has reached such a degree that it can experience its own destruction as aesthetic pleasure of the first order. »
Walter Banjamin, The work of art in the age of of its mechanical reproducibility (1935)

All the surrounding images show satirical images of technology. i like the way they inlude the human body and figure. The one with teh veins in the phone is especially inspirational.

The idea of the context for my makeup would be an editorial photoshoot. However it would be a specific genre, almost mock satirical advertising. The magazines below would be the ideal spread and palce for my photos.  They are not high fashion and directed toward a younger audience.
