The different ideas of Beauty must be acknowledged in society. And as Makeup Artists we have to be particularly aware of cultural differences and traditions.

What we must not do as makeup artists is manipulate other peoples’ faces to our own beauty standards. We have to respect the model/client.

A question that comes up a lot is “can we have a universal standard of beauty? Do we all fit one mark like Dr Marquardt thinks we do.”

Albeism in the media is something not talked about as much as racial or gender bias, However it is still an important issue.

In recent times people argue that disabled people are not represented in the media in a positive way. Usually people with deformities or disablements are villains.

Moreover when they are a positve character often the Actor who portrays that character is not disabled themselves.

Aee above the character Artie Abrams from the television show Glee (Murphy, 2009) who is played by Actor Kevin Mchale. The show got a lot of controversy when the audience realised the actor was not actually disabled.

It brings up the question "should disabled actors play disabled Characters in the media?" Because of the low employment rate amongst the disabled community should abled actors play disabled characters?

It is interesting to see here that in a massive blockbuster there is only 1 female main character alongside 6 leading male characters. Even on the poster The female and the Male actor of colour are placed nearer towards the background of the poster.

Gender Equality between Men and women has improved within the film and television industry, with women being represented more within commercials and on television.

Within film years ago women's roles tended to be less powerful and if they were even available women acted as the mother or the sex object, rarly the main character. Recently there has been a lot more inclusion of women in leading roles, especially for younger generations with Films such as the Hunger Games Trilogy and Twilight. However there are still some issues, especially with the casting of older women characters, usually there are many more roles for older males, and a lot of the older female roles tend to go to the same 6 or 7 older female actresses such as Judi Dench and Meryl Streep
